Before reporting a problem

1. Confirm the link is a public youtube.com or youtu.be video.
2. Confirm ChatGPT's Chrome access is installed, enabled, and permitted.
3. Open the video normally and check whether YouTube offers “Show transcript.”
4. Try the request once more if YouTube or Chrome temporarily failed to load the page.

Common messages

No transcript: the video is public, but YouTube does not expose a caption track for it.

Transcript keeps loading: YouTube offered a transcript for this video but never finished loading it. Retry once. If it still does not load, that video cannot be grounded from its transcript yet.

Unavailable: the video may be private, removed, region-limited, or otherwise inaccessible.

Browser permission unavailable: ChatGPT could not access Chrome. Enable the Chrome capability in ChatGPT settings and retry.

Incomplete transcript: the full transcript could not be verified, so the plugin declined to make whole-video claims.

Credit limit reached: ask AskAVideo in ChatGPT to explain the current availability. The account-enabled desktop build includes five free distinct videos per UTC month; further video-plan checkout is not available right now. The former website products and generation have ended. Existing saved Projects remain available to open and export.

AskAVideo account and allowances

The version currently in review does not enforce video allowances. The newer account-enabled desktop build checks access before opening a video and counts it only after the complete transcript is verified. A video is counted once per UTC month; follow-up questions about it do not use another credit. Paid video plans are not on sale yet.

Report an issue

Include the public video URL, the exact error message, and the approximate time of the request. Do not send passwords, cookies, or private video links.
